People You Should Know: State of Business in the City

People You Should Know: State of Business in the City

Wednesday, December 16, 2026 (8:00 AM - 10:00 AM) (EST)

Description

2026 gave Philadelphians much to be proud of: The FIFA World Cup and the US semiquincentennial opened our doors to the world, the rate of violent crimes continued to trend downwards, Center City office leases increased despite back to the office numbers remaining unchanged, retail occupancy has reached a seven year high, and city’s poverty rate dropped below 20% for the first time in decades.

So, what is driving this momentum—and where are the opportunities to build on it? Drawing on data from The Pew Charitable Trusts’ annual State of the City report, leaders from across Philadelphia’s business community will offer their perspectives on the state of the city’s economy, the challenges that remain, and the new ideas, investments, and strategies that are shaping Philadelphia’s future.

Join us for a candid conversation about how we can continue to grow Philadelphia’s economy, strengthen its business community, and build on this moment of opportunity—and meet the People You Should Know who are helping make it happen.
